Getting your bloodwork done? Follow these these t Getting your bloodwork done?  Follow these these tips to get the most accurate information out of them!

🩸 Make sure that you have fasted for about 12 hours, and ideally get them done first thing in the morning. Fasting means water only.. no coffee!
🩸 Be well hydrated!  I can't stress this enough. 
🩸 Try to have yourself a peaceful morning with no rushing or stressing. 
🩸 Choose the time when to get labs done to be when life is pretty normal.  No wild parties or vacations the weekend before your labs. 

And of course, I look at labs through the functional medicine perspective .  This means, I am looking to see what those values should look like for you to enjoy optimal health, not just feel "fine". So those reference ranges listed may be within "range" , but may be suboptimal for your ideal health.

Had plenty to get done this weekend between work a Had plenty to get done this weekend between work and home, but sometimes we need to slow down in order to speed up. 

Escaped to this beautiful spot with friends. Quietude is a gorgeous property with hiking trails right off the back of the house.  It is the perfect spot for any type of retreat. Wellness retreats, masterminds, offsite corporate meetings, or just an adventure with friends.

🥗 Acid reflux is not evidence of too much stomach acid: it's evidence that stomach acid is in the wrong place!  The key is to understand your unique root causes and address them. 
🥗 There are other root causes or reflux as well. If addressing the above pieces does not help, work with a trusted practitioner to uncover if you have a hiatal hernia ( simple x-ray), H. Pylori bacterial overgrowth, or insufficient stomach acid.
🥗Long term use of acid suppressing meds can be dangerous, especially proton pump inhibitors.  Long term use of these meds can impair absorption of proteins and minerals, that over years of use, can be the true root cause of ailments such as osteoporosis, arthritis, heart disease, depression and diabetes!! With all that being said, if you are taking PPIs, never stop cold turkey.  This. Sun be dangerous. First, do the work to uncover your root causes and address them, then work with your prescriber to slowly wean off of them, allowing your body time to adjust. 

I care about this because low nutrients means the body can't do its job as well as it should.  This rings true for my coaching clients struggling with dis-ease, and my physical therapy patients healing from injury! We all need nutrients!!

Hey Everyone. It has been a minute. I know. I hav Hey Everyone. It has been a minute. I know.  I have been working so hard  behind the scenes on all things functional medicine and physical therapy.

I thought  I’d take a minute to fill you in on what I have been up to.  There are now 2 different ways I work with my clients!

You can see me as a Physical Therapy Patient, or as a Functional Medicine Coaching Client. 

My physical therapy practice is a unique blend of my years of post-graduate manual therapy training and experience, thanks to @imomptwoburn and my fellowship training and teaching with @bostonu .  I now marry these skills with the concepts of functional medicine science, to truly paint a holistic picture for my patients, and help them recover fully, while integrating insights into their overall health that support their healing. 

You can also work with me as a Functional Medicine Coaching Client. This service is done over zoom, and we offer 3 different package options to help you meet your overall health goals, and reverse your symptoms of “dis-ease”. Here’s what that looks like.  First, before your initial consultation, you will fill out a lovely pile o’ paperwork to really paint the picture of your story, and send along any previous labs you have had done over the past 2 years.  Before our first session, I take this information and do a DEEP dive into all of it, uncovering all the juicy points of interconnectedness that may be contributing to how you are feeling. Next we come up with a unique plan for you, to help you reverse your symptoms, naturally.  We do this with support from functional medicine testing that looks at your gut microbiome, hormones and mineral levels, as well as educating you on the lifestyle changes, foods and supplements that can help you along the way.  I feel so blessed to be able to share this knowledge with all of you and help you get back to the place where you can go out and share your amazing gifts with the world.

Ok. So I have spent the past 2 days mapping out bi Ok. So I have spent the past 2 days mapping out big dreams for my business in 2023, and mindset shifts are always a huge part of business expansion.  And let me tell you, at least for me, it's a LOT more work than I ever thought it would be. 

Yesterday, I filled in the blank above with "business".

What would be your word?  Fill in your own blank... is it health, stress, strength, fear, self-worth or something else? 

If we want to see change, we have to recognize these old thoughts and beliefs and ask ourselves how can we shift them. What thought or belief will you be replacing in 2023? 

Oh and added bonus.. doing this inner work actually positive impacts your physical health! It all comes full circle my friends?
