Here's the deal. I did not rest for a very long time. I thought it was a sign of weakness. I loved that I could power through a 12 hour workday and then go home and be super mom. But the truth was, it didn't feel good. It took a huge toll on my health, and it has taken me a long time to recover from all of that overdoing. And all that time, if I had only known everything would get easier if I just allowed myself a little rest!

Today, I am by no means perfect, but I listen to my body, and if I am tired, I clear space for rest. Even if it's only a 10 min Yoga Nidra Meditation on @insighttimer , which I highly recommend! Our body is listening to our mind and the environment we are asking it to thrive or survive in. It is our job to create that environment for thriving by giving it the right cues. Rest is one of those cues! We are not robots. It's ok to slow down. I promise you will be amazed at how productive it can be💛

Creating space for true downtime is absolutely crucial to shifting your nervous system into it's parasympathetic or "rest and restore" mode. It also helps support our immune system, gut health, hormone balance, blood sugar regulation and creativity!

If you just read this and then thought, "I'm too busy to relax everyday."... First let me tell you, I see you because I've been in your shoes, and trust me when I tell you, you need rest, more than anyone!

If this concept is new, here are 2 ways to get started...

⭐️ Just one deep breath, making your exhale longer than your inhale. Before and during meal time can even help support digestion. Choosing to pause and breath when you are feeling stressed. Even just for a moment.

⭐️Starting your day with just a few minutes you. 5 min will work. Use this time to do something you love that is relaxing. Read a few pages of your book. Choose a 5 min guided meditation from @insighttimer. Put on a song you love and just move to the music. It can be anything that feels good and even better brings you joy.
